Leeds Country Way Day 4 and 5

Leeds Country Way Day 4 and 5

Before I embark on the 6th walk of the trail I figured I best write up 4 and 5.

Walk 4 saw us taking a detour straight after leaving the car as the path had been closed and not rerouted.  This added about a mile onto the walk and had me excited about getting a trig point.  Anyway, annoyingly the trig was also on a closed path as well and I had to climb over a fence.  We eventually managed to walk around to rejoin our original route and cross over the motorway.

There wasn’t much to write about on this walk.  We got ice cream in Garforth. We walked past the most stinky farm ever, before walking down to the river Aire, which was the end of our walk.

The stinky farm

Just over 7 miles (8 with the detour).

Walk 5 started off nicely walking down the side of the River Aire down to Methley.

As we were leaving the river there was a snack van and Zara was very chuffed to get a hot chocolate.

We walked through some pretty countryside before coming to the most pointless boring section to Swithens Farm.

We stopped for a break and then the weather changed. The wind was a companion for the rest of the walk.

We eventually came to Carlton, which marks the half way point for the Leeds Country Way.

This section came in at just over 9 miles.

Hawthorn or Blackthorn flowering.
