Quagmire – Leeds Country Way part 2.

Mud glorious mud.  Ohh so much mud!

We started back on the Leeds Country Way this morning. The weather was forecast for a fine morning and rain this afternoon, so being fair weather walkers it was a morning walk only.

After parking the cars up and starting the walk it became obvious that it was going to be something special this week.  At least last week the mud was frozen, this week however, no such luck. It was a balmy 9 degrees.

Start of the walk off Wike Lane

The signs of spring were everywhere. We saw a very new lamb that had just been born and wasn’t even standing yet. Lots of early babies as well.  Rachel was very happy to see the new lambs.

After passing through farm land there was a little whining about our rolling countryside.  Down a hill and back up again.

Even when there are no leaves on the trees it’s still green.

As we approached Bardsey we saw a tree exposing its roots out of the rocks, which was cool and also the oldest inn as recorded in the Guinness book of records.

Zara got very excited at seeing a castle in Bardsey.  Leaving me puzzled for a few seconds whilst I figured out she was talking about a church.

Bottom of a garden.  So many snowdrops.

Then we were back onto some more farm walking and more mud.

When the path has a current you know something’s not right

We managed to slip and slide our way into Thorner which was the end of our walk.  We also encountered an egg vending machine in Thorner, which Rachel took advantage of.

A great walk coming in at just under 6 miles.
