Leeds Country Way and Sunshine

I saw the sun for the first time in 2026 today and it was glorious. We didn’t have a lot of time available so needed a fairly short local walk.

Sun in the sky, though it was a little chilly

We decided to start walking the Leeds Country Way.  It’s a 62 mile circular walk around Leeds. I’ve started it before, but not finished it.  I will succeed this time!

We started our walk at Golden Acre Park.  It was very icy and it wasn’t long until we came to our first side quest, save the frozen worm.

Poor frozen worm.

After leaving the park you walk through Eccup Whin.  This was very muddy and I was glad that it was icy as it made the going a bit easier.  Then came the next side quest. See how many icy puddles could be smashed.

After leaving Eccup Whin there was a bit of road walking before we turned off the road into a muddy field. We trekked through mud for quite some time before eventually coming to the set of Emmerdale.  Thankfully this is pretty much where the mud stopped.

Apparently a Dinglea house?

After leaving the set of Emmerdale it was an easy going walk. We just followed the people at this point. I don’t know where they all appeared from, but it got busy on this section of the walk.

Zalks spotted this tree with some impressive Jelly Eared Fungus growing on it

Before long we found ourselves back at the car and the end of our walk.  I’m looking forward to the next section.
