Meanwood Valley Trail

Meanwood Valley Trail

Today’s walk was local to us.  It was the 7 mile walk that starts in Woodhouse Moor and ends at Golden Acre Park.

It’s like a green corridor that runs through the North West of Leeds.  You walk through a built up area of student houses and before you know it you’re into Woodhouse Ridge.

Once you’ve left Woodhouse Ridge you have a little urban walking before coming  to the next park which is Meanwood Park.

Meanwood Tannery, which I think is now apartments.

I really like Meanwood Park.  I love following the Beck.  It feels like you’re out in the countryside and not in the city.

After leaving Meanwood park behind, you cross under the busy Ring Road following Adel Beck instead.  You then go into Scotland Wood and see the Seven Arches Aqueduct.

Carry on following the Beck and your into Adel Woods.

Adel Woods is a bit strange. It used to have old buildings in it, now just strange people frequent there. We even saw a man in the woods just randomly playing his violin.

Slabbering Baby.  Not Zara, but the hole thing in the ground.

I did this walk in back in 2018 and it looks like I have taken photos in the same place in 2026.

It’s in Adel Woods that Zalks let us know an interesting fact about Holy.  It grows spikes to protect itself, so you can also get non-spiky Holy if it’s never been disturbed or grazed on.

After leaving Adel wood you walk along the side of the golf course.  Then sadly it’s a little road walking before getting to the back of Golden Acre Park.

We were really lucky and it stayed dry for us.  Once we were in the car going home it totally poured down.

Great little walk and an enjoyable Saturday afternoon.
