Also the first squeeze that I’ve not been able to squeeze through – I’m not sure that is an achievement I want though.
This section of the Welcome Way was nice and varied. The first third was lovely and flat. We descended down off the hill and were warned in the guide book about the tight squeeze. This one I made it through.

We dropped down onto the Leeds Liverpool canal and saw the Five Rise Locks. We had to explain to Rachel how the locks work, now I think she’s planning a canal holiday.

We followed the canal path for a while until we came to a big bridge and then met the River Ayre. We continued along the river Ayre for a short while before popping up into Bingley. We had a short break and a stop off at Lidl before continuing on to Myrtle Park and walking back to the river.

The next mile or so was very muddy as we followed the river. Thankfully some areas had been boarded for us. We saw a panda garden, which I loved.

Then we got to the mile 7 mark and things changed. We had to walk up a bloody big muddy hill. It was quite steep in places and I was a wee bit grumpy. Too much beer drinking probably and not enough hill walking. Then we came to the squeeze that I just wasn’t fitting through, probably that beer’s fault I mentioned above.

We make it up a very squelchy Baildon Hill to eventually get to the trig point. The 369 views were amazing. You’ll have to take my word for it though as Zara wasn’t with us and I’m rubbish at trying to do a panorama picture.

We then dropped off the hill and into Baildon where the car was parked.
Not a bad walk though, just probably made for skinny people.
Was planned for 9 miles, we walked a bit extra though up on Baildon Hill and explored (that’s what I’m calling going the wrong way now).
