A trip around a couple of very low reservoirs

Our weekend walk last weekend was a trip around Swinsty and Fewston.  It’s not rained for about 2 months and the reservoirs are very low.

Fewston near the Swinsty moor carpark.

We had a great conversation on our walk about how we might have to fight our neighbours for a pint of water if it doesn’t rain soon.  Louise, Rachel and I all believe that we could totally take our neighbours for water.  I imagine that it’ll rain soon though so no Mad Max scenarios happening in Leeds.

Coming down the North East side of the reservoir there was all this white stuff on the ground that initially looked like mist.  Upon inspection it wasn’t mist, and we had decided that it must be a massive influx of spiders trying to make the reservoir their home.  Anyway, as it turns out it’s not spiders web either, but willow seeds.  There were then random conversations about battles with spiders over Water.  Zara then said the spiders would win the pint of water.

The rest of the walking conversations were just as random.  Zalks, asked Rachel where she would rather go, Heaven or Hell?  Then she got offended by Rachel’s Hell answer because at least she’d be warm there.  I think she was even more puzzled when I said I’d booked my spot in Valhalla so that I could feast for the rest of eternity there.

Maybe we need to do more technical walks to stop us having such random conversations. Anyway if it stays dry I might have a trip up to Thruscross and see if I can spot some ruins peaking through the lower water.
